A number of people have been asking us recently, “When are you going to retire?” This letter is an attempt to answer that question.
We have been asking God for his wisdom and have been in consultation with our
ReachGlobal supervisor about the timing and process of our retirement. We believe that God has led us, with the confirmation of our supervisor, to the following plan and timing leading up to our retirement from ReachGlobal. Of course, when we plan anything, especially in these days of uncertainty, we always do so with the words of James 4:13-16 in the very front of our minds.
Depending on the Lord, we are planning to continue to serve full-time, as Directors of Member Care with ReachGlobal, through the end of September 2020. Beginning October 1, 2020, we will continue serving as Directors of Member Care for ReachGlobal, at a reduced work level, until July 31, 2021. After July 31, 2021 we will be taking a “home assignment” for the joyful purpose of visiting our many kind and faithful supporting fellowships and individuals in order to say “thank you” in-person for the many years of gracious, generous prayer and financial support. We will then fully retire from ReachGlobal as of December 31, 2021.
You may be wondering what this means in terms of financial support need. Through the end of September 2020, our financial support remains at its current level. As of October 1, 2020, our financial support needs will be reduced when we begin to take a lowered salary while continuing to raise ministry expenses. Currently our support schedule is $11,750/month. Beginning October 1, our support needs will decrease to approximately $4,000/month. As the Lord leads and enables, if you choose to continue financial support at current or reduced level, we would be most grateful.
If you sense that, as of October 1, you need to cease financial support to perhaps support younger people being called into cross-cultural service, we completely understand. We know of several great, pre-deployed missionary candidates we could recommend, or we can direct you to the ReachGlobal “Engage” director who works with pre -deployed staff.
Words are very inadequate to express our deep gratitude to you for your kind prayer and financial support for so many years (Currently in our 36th year with ReachGlobal!), but we hope we can somehow communicate our appreciation for you!
