Wonderful Are Your Works, And My Soul Knows it Very Well

I love to spend time pinpointing in my mind the things that really shape and saturate my walk with Christ.  Anyone who spends just a little bit of time with me, will recognize quickly that I dwell on God’s sovereignty… a lot.  Perhaps it’s because I truly believe that this aspect of God’s nature is so comforting.

A comfort that I recall often and want to share with you is in Psalm 139 verse 16. It says, “Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.”  In this Psalm, David brings to light something powerful and something we often forget.  God knows the number of days that are formed for us.  God knows the   number of days formed for us before there were days formed.   Have we really thought through this?  This simple phrase mentioned by David, holds so much joy, hope, comfort, and security I can’t even scratch the surface!

My God knows the number of days for our lives and there is nothing you or I can do to change that.  The comfort of knowing God is in charge of my life and my death is awesome.  This should give us so much courage and comfort in the midst of any circumstance that we might face.  This should be the first thought when we find ourselves anxious about the future. My prayer is that we as a fellowship can entrust our lives from start to finish to our heavenly father. “How precious to me are your thoughts O God!”
