We’ve Been Cured
I’m writing this Elder Report mainly as a reminder to me, but also hoping that anyone that takes time to read it can be motivated to action by it, too. Everyone who has become a Christian, by believing Jesus died for your sins, confessing you are a sinner, and making Him Lord of your life, has been cured. You may ask, cured from what? The answer is death. One day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord. Some will be hailing Him as King and sadly some will realize the truth for the first time, but it will be too late and they will be condemned for eternity.
My biggest deterrent to telling others about this “cure,” about Jesus has been fear. What do I have to fear? I don’t have to die anymore. Sure, I will have a physical death, but not a spiritual death. I don’t have to have all the answers to point someone to Christ. I have my story of how I came to know him. I need to get to the point and tell them that Jesus is the only way to be sure of your eternity. “I don’t know,” or “I’ll get back to you,” is perfectly good answer to a difficult question. I have come to realize that no prayer, no hoping for, or just a good relationship isn’t going to save anyone who will be on the wrong side that day. They are all good starting points and can be very important to getting someone on the right path, but the only way is to point them to Jesus and what He did for them.
I ask you to keep me on task on this. Ask me how I’m doing on sharing this amazing cure. Please stay in the word, pray that God will put people in your life with whom you can share with. Ask Him for boldness or to take away any fear you may have. Let us as His church spread this cure near and far.
Jesus, who is God, Creator, Savior, said in John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.“
