Missionary for June-Robert Dykstra “The Shack”

“for the Lord your God is among you, and He is a great and awesome God.”

Deuteronomy 7:21b

Boozhoo Appleton,

As we begin what is sure to be an interesting summer, The Shack continues to connect with and reach out to the people of Lac Courte Oreilles.  We pray that it is a season with open doors and open hearts.  June is typically a month filled with many miles as we head out to the Wind River Reservation on outreach, take a camping retreat,  and spend a week with hundreds of Native youth from all over North America at the Warrior Leadership Summit.  This year, we will be staying put … mostly.  We are excited about this season that is helping us focus more on individual and small group discipleship.  A time that we pray will continue to refine us and draw us closer in our relationship to God and to each other. It is also a season where we are asking God if there are changes we should be making in ministry here as we seek to be about God’s work and not simply a good work here. Your prayers over this season are most appreciated.

Miigwech for your partnership!

 Your friends at The Shack

At the Shack, we believe that love is the most important component of organic community. We also believe that the Word of God is the most powerful force of change in human history. Therefore, we partner these two things in order to see His kingdom come in our community.

Our Vision

Build a safe place where the gospel is shared through community building, meeting each other where we are and reflecting the characteristics of God.

WE DO THIS THROUGH:

  • Teen Ministry
  • Young Adult/Family Ministry
  • Community Events
  • One-on-One Discipleship
  • Community Partnerships

The person who loves their dream of community will destroy community but the person who loves those around them will create community. ~Dietrich Bonhoeffer

“Teen Group is where we not only make friends but begin to form a spiritual family. It is a safe place for me to grow and make my relationship with Christ stronger.” Alyssa
